This year, the timeless chequerboard motif, once seen on the brand’s iconic trunks, has been reimagined with a contemporary twist—gold squares paired with glittering diamonds to create a collection that balances bold design with refined elegance.

The 12-piece fine jewellery collection is the vision of Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton’s artistic director for watches and jewellery. Crafted in both yellow and white gold, the collection showcases the damier motif’s geometric brilliance through sleek, stackable designs. “It’s not just about the diamonds, but the pattern they create,” says Amfitheatrof, emphasizing the intricate balance of simplicity and sophistication in each piece.

Designed for everyday luxury and fluid wear, the pieces fit like a second skin. The smooth, polished surfaces, paired with bold geometric lines, make this collection timeless yet effortlessly modern. With its unisex appeal, Le Damier de Louis Vuitton invites wearers to mix, match, and layer the pieces according to their personal style.

A standout piece in the collection is the versatile damier ring, available in three widths and two finishes—yellow or white gold. Whether opting for a subtle two-row gold and diamond version or a statement-making four-row diamond design, this ring captures the essence of Louis Vuitton’s legacy while adapting to modern sensibilities.

The collection also features a sleek round pendant adorned with diamonds on a delicate yellow gold chain, offering a classic yet contemporary statement. To match the pendant, diamond-studded yellow gold hoop earrings evoke the damier’s stacked, sculpted aesthetic, adding a geometric flair to the overall look.

One of the highlights of Le Damier de Louis Vuitton is its modern take on the tennis bracelet. Inspired by the iconic 1978 US Open incident when a player’s diamond bracelet fell off mid-match, this piece embodies the fusion of movement and elegance, blending Louis Vuitton’s heritage with everyday practicality.

With its bold yet versatile design, Le Damier de Louis Vuitton transcends traditional boundaries of gender and style. “It’s about embracing a piece of history and making it your own,” says Amfitheatrof. Each piece in the collection celebrates the maison’s storied past while offering a fresh, contemporary take on fine jewellery that is as relevant today as ever.

The Le Damier de Louis Vuitton collection will be available in Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide starting November 2024.
