De Beers Group recently welcomed media representatives from Mainland China and Hong Kong, alongside executives from Chow Tai Fook and top influencers, for an exclusive two-day workshop and cultural tour at its London headquarters. This immersive experience was designed to deepen participants’ understanding of natural diamonds, blending hands-on expertise with an exploration of diamond heritage and modern craftsmanship.

The workshop’s highlight was an engaging hands-on session led by experts from the De Beers Institute of Diamonds. Participants learned diamond appraisal techniques, covering the 4Cs—color, cut, carat weight, and clarity. They handled rough diamonds, observed the polished gems’ brilliance under light, and witnessed the power of DiamondProof, De Beers’ latest equipment for detecting lab-grown diamonds instantly. As Director of Education Jodine Bolden noted, “Diamonds are not only precious gems but carry a rich cultural heritage and historical significance. This workshop aimed to reveal the professional intricacies that make natural diamonds unique.”

The two-day experience extended beyond the headquarters, as participants toured London’s iconic diamond landmarks. They visited De Beers Jewellers’ Bond Street flagship store to admire and try on high-end diamond jewelry, blending classic craftsmanship with contemporary design. A visit to the Tower of London’s Crown Jewels collection added a historical dimension, connecting participants to the legacy of diamonds in British history.

Through this immersive event, De Beers underscored its commitment to fostering a global appreciation for natural diamonds by combining innovative technologies, ethical sourcing, and cultural education. From practical appraisal exercises to a citywide exploration of diamond culture, De Beers emphasized the multifaceted nature of diamonds as both natural wonders and symbols of enduring beauty. Moving forward, De Beers remains dedicated to ensuring the timeless appeal of natural diamonds through continued advancements in technology, sustainability, and cultural outreach.
