Nazraana by Rio Tinto presents IIJW2014 in association with PC Jeweller concluded its first day with some of the well-established names along with fresh new-comers showcasing their master-pieces on the ramp. Owing to a Monday, starting at low place, it did not fail to garner much audience at the later part of the day. Just after the inauguration by Rashmi Thackeray, Gitanjali Gems Ltd presented ‘Leading Jewellers of the World’ (LJOW) with a spectacular show with Neha Dhupia, Konkana Bakshi and Ankita Shorey walking the ramp with Queenie Singh for brands like Asmi, Nizam, Gili and Parineeta to express support for the Girl Child. The show began with a presentation on the Girl Child by Queenie Singh and Tiara in association with CREATE, which was further highlighted by an impressive dance performance by young girls from Seva Sadan, the NGO which has espoused the cause.

Came next was Surya Golds (SGL) in association with Swarovski who showcased their collection ‘Nature Inception’. Ameesha Patel dazzled the ramp wearing a jadau set with emeralds and rubies along with a big cuff. Moni Agarwal presented by SGL showcased their ‘Meeravali Collection’ which denotes epitome of grace, beauty and sophistication. Chitrangada Singh walked the ramp for Meeravali wearing beautiful two kundan-polki set, a nath and a kamar-bandh. ‘Jewels by Preeti’ showcased ‘Amor’ collection designed and created for woman in love – with themselves. Kalki Koechlin walked the ramp wearing beautiful emerald and ruby choker neck piece designed by Preeti Jain.

In total, 5 collections with 4 entries each were presented by 6 designers from IIGJ. Sponsored by Chennai Diamonds the 4 entries by Mehul Baradia were inspired by South Indian wedding. Amruta Patki, Miss India International 2006 ended the show modelling a stunning diamond choker/bib with bangles and luxurious earrings. Presenting a collection called “Quirky Copper”, Neha Sharma pushed the design envelope for her armlet-cum-ring, a striking finger shield, Haath Phool, triangular enamelled earrings, creations meant for the strong daring New Age woman. Baljinder Kaur Bahl presented “Vivah” ideal for the lady who wants to make a fashion statement. The designing duo Forum Parekh and Raina Bhansali presented their collection called “Statements” starting with the ‘Canvas of Nature’, ‘Feminine Ferocity’, ‘Haute Couture’ and ‘Bayaan-E-Zamani’. Ending the show was lovely Mihika Verma, Miss India 2004 who wore dazzling set comprising rows of pearls wound in a cluster and a matching bracelet. Diamonds, rubies and emeralds made a great style statement for Harshini Jethani’s couture collection. Stopping the show was the very sexy Gauhar Khan modelling a glamorous set consisting of a superb diamond and large pear shaped emerald drops edged necklace with matching cuff.

Shobha Shringar Jewellers unveiled the scintillating “Neesha Collection” for brides. Opening the show was the gorgeous Dia Mirza in a superb collar that flowed into a bib, chandelier shoulder dusters, Maang Tikka and cluster of bangles. Ending the show, she wore superbly crafted necklace, sensationally designed earrings, kada and rings. Farah Khan Ali presented by GII showcased her collection ‘Quaintrelle’. Lisa Ray walked the ramp wearing blue earrings with uncut diamond and a matching bangle and a ring. Laksh Pahuja presented by GSI showcased ‘Luminious Laksh’ By Gemma Designer Jewels. Laksh Pahuja collaborated with jeweller Haresh Pahuja presented a collection of intricate and gorgeous cuff and bangles for Itan Jewels and the highlight of the show was ‘Bird’s Eye View of Palm Jumeirah’. The day ended with a collection named ‘The Royal Tribe- An Evolution’ from Apala by Sumit. Sunny Leone was the showstopper for the brand Apala by Sumit Sawhney and she represented a royal tribal queen wearing a headpiece, a funky neckpiece and matching earrings and bangles.
