An International Gold Buyer Seller Meet is being organised by the Gem and Jewellery Council in Chennai, which is going to be the first opportunity that Chennai will be hosting a buyer seller meet and also the first for the product segment. Chennai is the location of GJEPC’s regional presence in South India. The event is slated between 2-4 October 2013. Speaking on the event, Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC said, “India is fast emerging as the international jewellery hub and Buyer Seller Meets over the years have proven to be effective platforms allowing for closer networking and conduct of business between leading industry players of India and the participating countries. The BSMs also are in line with the Council’s plans to explore newer markets and regions around the globe with the aim to accelerate manufacturing exports”.

The 3-day Buyer Seller Meet will be inaugurated by the Hon’ble. Chitra Devi Ramiah, Consul General, Consulate General of Malaysia on October 2, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency, Chennai. Participants expected will include leading industry names from countries such as Singapore, Malaysia and UAE that are home a large South Indian populace and are traditionally nigh gold jewellery consuming markets. The BSM aims to capitalize on the high export prospects for gems and jewellery from Southern India to these countries and to promote “Gold” from South. The format of the BSM is focused on the product enabling buyers from numerous “gold” buying countries and not specific regions or target groups. Business meetings, discussions and networking will be held between the participants during the three days, to understand and explore business prospects between the participating countries.

A Grand Gala Networking event will be held on October 3, 2013 during which Shri. Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Commissioner of Customs, Air, Chennai and Chief Guest of the event will felicitate the gem and jewellery industry association heads for their respective associations’ contribution towards the benefit of the industry in the South. Such felicitation is being held for the first time by GJEPC in recognition of the growing contribution of the gem and jewellery industry of Southern India.

Mr. Princeson Jose, Regional Chairman, Southern Region, GJEPC said, “The manufacturers of Southern India have a wide and unique product manufacturing capabilities that aptly meet the sensibilities and requirements of the participating countries and through this platform; we look forward to enhancing exports from the Southern India”. Participants from India include leading names in the production of high quality gold jewellery, lending the visiting buyers a whole gamut of products.
