As meeting of the WDC and CIBJO concluded in Tel Aviv, at a gala event Moti Ganz, Chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI) was presented with the first ever Order of Merit Award of the World Diamond Council (WDC) and CIBJO World Jewelry Confederation (CIBJO), in recognition of 25 years of public service on behalf of the global diamond industry. The award was presented by World Diamond Council President Eli Izhakoff and CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri.

Moti Ganz’s career has seen him being on the various diamond industry bodies in Israel, being elected unanimously as President of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association (IsDMA) in 2004, becoming President of the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) in 2008 and serving there until 2012. Since 2006 Ganz has been Chairman of the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies. He was praised for his efforts in bringing IDI to unprecedented achievements which included pushing to enhance IDI’s activities in and exports to Asia, even prior to the U.S. crisis and his vision of opening IDI representative office in Hong Kong.

Moti Ganz expressed his gratitude for receiving the award, adding “I hope to continue to serve the diamond industry for many years. I love this industry and I hope the industry also loves me.”

WDC President Eli Izhakoff praised Ganz: “I spoke of leadership at the WDC meeting. Moti fits the description of what a good leader should be. He speaks little, but delivers a lot – effectively and beautifully.” CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri assured Ganz, “This industry loves you as much as you love this industry.”
