GJEPC organizes first Indo-Australia Jewellery Conclave

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council is organizing the first ever Indo-Australia Jewellery Conclave as a step towards establishing business ties between the gem and jewellery industry of both countries. The event is slated in Sydney from 21-22 May, 2013 at Sheraton on the Park.

“This is the first-ever Buyer Seller meet of its kind between the two countries designed to facilitate one-on-one meetings and networking opportunities giving Australian buyers deeper insights into India’s manufacturing (production), design prowess and supply chain” according to Vipul Shah, Chairman-GJEPC. He added “GJEPC has over the years held successful meets with regions such as China, Europe, US, Russia/ CIS leading to substantial growth of trade with these countries and we are encouraged to replicate this in Australia”.

Across the two days, a select group of Indian jewellery manufacturers and leading jewellery retailers and buying groups across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji islands will have the opportunity to meet and interact. The GJEPC has shortlisted 12 jewellery manufacturers from India to participate, basis their excellent capabilities to cater to specific needs of the Australian market in terms of cutting edge design, quality and service. The 12 members include: Asian Star Jewels, Core Jewellery, Creation Jewellery, Fine Jewellery, Gold Star Jewellery, Inter Gold India, KBS Creations, Kiran Jewels India, Patdiam Jewellery, Priority Jewels, Stellar Jewellery and Uni-Design Jewellery. Also, 12 leading names across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji have been confirmed although and some names are likely to join through this week taking the attendance to 15.

Mr. Arun Kumar Goel, Consul-General of India in Australia also added “There is an immense potential and a need for relationship building between the two industries and we are happy to offer support to GJEPC in such ventures”.

Australia India Business Council, NSW President Sheba Nandkeolar said “The conclave presents a tremendous opportunity for many of the attendees who may be looking towards India as a sourcing hub for the first time and will enable them to obtain a first-hand understanding of the advanced technologies being used to produce finished jewellery in India.”
