The United Nations Security council voted unanimously March 30, 2007 to extend the UN mission in Liberia (UNMIL) another six months, and continue a ban on rough diamond exports from the country.

The 15 member body also called for extending the current arms embargo on Liberia. The resolution also instructed UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to present a detailed drawdown plan for the mission in his next scheduled report in June, including specific recommendations on force levels, and options for withdrawal.

The Security Council specified that the UN secretary general should present the recommendations no later than 45 days before the expiration of the current UNMIL mandate.
