Renowned jewellery designers and jewellery design houses dished out a bevy of innovative ideas combined with manufacturing excellence in their showcase on day one at the first-ever India International Jewellery Week (IIJW), organised by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai. The event is slated between August 15-19, 2010.
Following the inauguration by Mr. Vasant Mehta, amidst GJEPC vice-chairman Mr. Rajiv Jain, convenor Mr. Sanjay Kothari, convenor exhibitions Mr. Haresh Zaveri, Mr. Mehul Choksi, CMD, Gitanjali and Mr. Gaurav Garg, MD, Tata AIG and others, the jewellery showcase followed with celebrities and models sashaying the designs of India’s leading jewellery houses like Laxmi Jewellery and CKC Bangalore. Bollywood diva Deepika Padukone walked the ramp for Farah Ali Khan’s collection. Also, Bollywood diva and Nakshatra’s brand ambassador, Katrina Kaif, brought out the brand’s bridal collection - Nakshatra Vivaaha jewellery, as well as a new collection of bangles called Divine Circles.
The India International Jewellery Week has been conceptualised to voice the best in Indian jewellery manufacturing and design, within the global market and as Mr. Mehta described, it will “go down as a milestone event in the establishment of this industry”. The line up of designers for the five day event include:- Farah Khan, Bina Goenka, Eekani Jewels, Rhea Nasta, Varuna D Jani, Laksh Pahuja, Mirari & Co., and design houses like Bridhichand Ghanshyamdas, Amrapali, Tanishq, Intergem Exports, Brightest Circle Jewellery, Gitanjali Gems, Sangam Ornaments, CVM Exports, and more.
