The Hope Diamond donated at the Smithsonian' Museum of Natural History by Harry Winston, Jewelers, is being displayed at the museum unmounted for the very first time. This year is the 50th year of the diamond being donated at the museum. The diamond is being displayed as un – mounted until April 2010, while a new setting is being prepared for it by Harry Winston.

A few months ago, it was announced that the diamond would be undergoing a new setting to be designed by Harry Winston.
