A Russian version of the Israeli Diamond Industry Portal was launched recently by the Israel Diamond Institute Group of Companies (IDI). The site was presented at a press conference by Avraham (Bumi) Traub, Chairman of the IDI Finance Committee and Honorary President of the Israel Diamond Manufacturers Association. IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said: “The Israeli Diamond Industry views the Russian market as an opportunity for potential cooperation and the growth of polished diamond exports. This market has experienced tremendous growth and there is significant demand for diamond jewellery. We created the portal because we believe that it is important to communicate with the Russian market in its own language.”

The launch of the Russian version of the website is the second time in two years that the IDI has launched its portal in a foreign language. Two years ago, it had launched a Chinese version of its website, which was also a first for the industry. The English and Hebrew versions were launched in 2003. The The Israel Diamond Industry Portal, www.israelidiamond.co.il creates a B2B marketplace for the exchange of business contacts and diamond requests. Till date it has 7,500 registered users across 125 countries and receives 113,956 entries venery month and 1,250,053 of pages viewed.

The Russian portal site includes: continuously updated industry news from Israel and the world, articles by experts on topical issues, general information, statistics and history of The Israeli Diamond Industry, a photo gallery and videos, tips to conduct business with Israel, including visa and travel information, a comprehensive index of Israeli diamond companies with links to their web presence, a sophisticated diamond supply and demand platform for posting needs of international and Israeli members, and goods offered by Israeli diamantaires. An alert system informs users of relevant diamond needs in real-time.

The informative section of the portal is open to all users. Russian members of the diamond and jewellery trade are invited to register as members, free of charge, to gain access to information on the portal about Israeli companies, and entry into the diamond supply and demand platform.
