The International Colored Gemstone Association (ICA) is organising a ICA Mini-Gem-Jewelry-Service Show during the ICA Congress in Panyu, China. The intent of the mini show is to expand business opportunities for members and congress participants from China in the area of rough and cut gemstones.

As ICA Immediate Past President Joseph Menzie who is heading the planning for the ICA mini-show, explains, the show offers an opportunity to members dealing in rough and polished goods, to network with cutters and jewellery manufacturers in China. Also, for exhibitors from China, the show is a platform for them to display their gemstone cutting skills and develop new business contacts for foreign trade houses looking at manufacturing opportunities in China.

ICA is being cautious to address the need for new business opportunities in China, during the dull economic slowdown, one such opportunity being the mini trade show. “Anyone with overstock of cut stones, offered at reduced prices, could also find the diversified Chinese market a significant player to acquire their products,” said Menzie.

The ICA has themed the forthcoming ICA Congress as ‘Your Gateway to China’, while in China, the Congress is being promoted as ‘Your Gateway to the World.’ The event will see participation from mining, producing and trading center in the world. Highly anticipated events include the ICA mini-show, insight of business opportunities for the gem and jewellery market in China, debate sessions on industry-related matters, excursions and more. Recently, ICA has released a schedule of activities for the ICA Congress.
