The World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) has upgraded its website, which is now accessible on a new link – www.wfdb.com. Until now, the online presence of the federation which was established almost a decade ago was through the link www.worldfed.com.
The upgraded version of the website carries the statement of a dynamic and constantly evolving organisation, which reacts to developments in the international diamond business as they occur. "One of our objectives in creating the new website was to communicate in the most effective way possible that the WFDB is a body that functions on a daily basis, and not only at those industry events at which we typically receive exposure," explained Michael Vaughan, the WFDB Secretary General and Executive Director, who coordinated the project. Its features include up-to-date information about the WFDB and its member bourses, and the stance and policies of the WFDB on the various issues facing the diamond industry.
The new website is designed to operate both as a calling card for the WFDB and to provide a snapshot of the organisation. Visitors can gain information about the federation’s mission, structure, history, committees, office holders, member bourses and affiliated organisations, like the World Diamond Council and the International Diamond Council. A news section includes recent news articles, messages from the WFDB president and a full selection of the organisation's WFDB Newsletter. A gallery section with photographs of events involving the WFDB and its member organisations, is also an added feature. An extensive section provides information and other materials related to the WFDB for the trade and general media.
A closed section of the website is designed to serve as a functional tool for WFDB office holders and bourse members. Bourse members will be able to access their own WFDB webmail addresses, examine lists of suspended and expelled bourse members, and office holders will be able to join in forum discussions of the committees to which they belong. The website will also serve as the primary platform on which the WFDB will post notices and messages, and via which registration can take place for World Diamond Congresses and Presidents' Meetings.
