A 740 million Euro project, the production of single-crystal diamond chips is slated to commence in 2024, with total production ramping to 10 million carats in this facility, serving both traditional diamond buyers as well as the semiconductor industries.

This project will be one of the first industrial projects in the world entirely powered by solar electricity. (Diamond Foundry's first 100% hydro-powered but hydropower is a limited resource while solar power is available widely.)

Solar energy is abundant in the Extremadura region in Spain, and given our commitment to sustainable production, the company is interested in proving that solar can work at industrial scale in a self-contained way.

Diamond Foundy is planning for a 120MW solar installation supported by battery storage to entirely power our foundry. The solar farm will cover the land around our semiconductor grade foundry. Spain’s leading solar project developer, Powen, is our energy partner on the project.

The company's proprietary plasma reactors have been designed for wafer sized creation of single-crystal diamond. Combining proven qualities of semiconductors with our single-crystal diamond chips enables next-generation semiconductor performance across the cloud & AI compute, 5G/6G communications, and electric-car industries.

Sustainability and respecting the Earth’s resources are core attributes of Diamond Foundry's business, and it has focused its growth on sites with 100% renewable power. The company is presently also further scaling production in our Washington State foundry and have identified additional sites for expansion in the region as well.
