Christie's Jewels Online totals $1.3 million with unprecedented engagement

Christie’s Jewels Online Sale (April 13-24), totaled $1,352,125, with 99% sold by lot and 100% sold by value with        81% of lots selling above their high estimate. The sale received significant global participation with bidders represented from 31 countries and five continents with 38.5% new buyers. Additionally, there was an unprecedented amount of online engagement across a global spread of 150 countries with a 99% increase of unique visitors compared to the online Jewels sale hosted in April 2019 and a 46% increase of unique visitors compared to the February 2020 sale.

The top lots were by Graff, led by an Emerald and Diamond ‘Icon’ Necklace that sold for $52,500, against a low estimate of $10,000; Emerald and Diamond 'Icon' Earrings, which realized $43,750; and a Ruby and Diamond Ring, that sold for $35,000. Designs by David Webb also commanded top prices including Diamond and Multi-Gem Earrings, which realized $35,000; and a Gold Necklace, that sold for $35,000; both achieving more than four times their estimates. Other notable results included a 'Circle Rope Link' Gold Necklace, by Verdura that achieved $20,000, against a low estimate of $6,000; and a Diamond, Sapphire and Turquoise Bracelet, by Tiffany & Co. that tripled its estimate selling for $15,000.
