After 12 years of serving as the Managing Director of GIA India & Middle East, Nirupa Bhatt will be stepping down from her position. With her experience and knowledge that she has garnered over three decades, she was responsible for growing GIA India as one of the leading grading laboratories in India. A globally renowned gemological institute, GIA enjoys a distinct reputation in the industry in India today, thanks to her leadership. Bhatt will continue to be on a consultant advisor for GIA following her resignation.
“I intend to transition from my current operational role as managing director of GIA India to a consulting advisory position focusing on GIA’s Diamond Origin Report service. This decision offers a smooth succession plan for GIA India, with me available to personally guide a quality transition for customers and the trade,” said Bhatt.
Nirupa Bhatt is widely recognised for her valuable contribution to the Indian gems and jewellery industry. She has been an authority figure in the global diamond value chain.
Before joining GIA in 2008, she was with the mining conglomerate “Rio Tinto” (owner of Argyle Diamond Mine in Australia & Diavik Diamond Mine in Canada) for 20 years.
