Thanks to the consultation with diamond dealers, lapidaries, craftsmen and retailers, and in general, with all the various players in the "Gems & Pearls" sector, Baselworld sees the number of exhibitors from this sector increase by +50% for the next edition in 2020.
This significant increase is the result of measures taken in consultation with the sector's stakeholders, as well as the decision to relocate from Hall 3 to Hall 2. The new location is more central and allows all exhibitors to be grouped together in a single circular space all on the same level, on the ground floor, with secure access to natural daylight through its rotunda. Thanks to a more central integration into the overall exhibition plan, direct access from Messeplatz and Hall 1, it is perfectly optimised for visitor flows - professionals from the sector, end customers and the media.
Finally, Baselworld has redeveloped these areas to be much more spacious, while integrating hospitality and reception areas with bars and lounges that are ideal for networking. For the next edition in 2020, exhibitors in this sector now have the choice between having turnkey stand constructions or building their own stands. A new offer that meets exhibitors' expectations, combined with pragmatic cost control, now allows a more competitive positioning, for a better return on investment.
Michel Loris-Melikoff, Managing Director of Baselworld, said: "All players in the "Gems & Pearls" sector participate and benefit from the plurality of Baselworld. In recent months, I have travelled extensively in Asia, India, Europe and around the world to meet personally with the players in the "Gems & Pearls" sector and better understand their specific business needs. Through listening, dialogue and creativity, we have been able to reposition our offers to better meet their expectations.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank the largest international confederation of the jewellery, gemstones and pearls industry (CIBJO) and in particular its president Dr. Gaetano Cavalieri, for actively supporting us in the reorganization of the sector and for allowing us to redeploy the presence of its members to Baselworld."
From Manhattan to Jaipur via Hong Kong, Geneva, Antwerp, Tel Aviv, Idar-Oberstein..., all gemstone trading platforms meet every year in the first half of the year in Switzerland at Baselworld. As the main meeting place for watchmaking, jewellery, gemstones and related and technical industries in the world, Baselworld aims to be a resolutely communitarian and unifying event. It is its variety - small and large, and in all fields - that makes it so rich and interesting, especially for business.
Acknowledged by professionals around the world, Baselworld's "Gems & Pearls" sector, a place where the exceptional is the norm, today reaffirms its leadership position as a key event for jewellery, gemstones and pearls.
