African Diamonds plc, is pacing enthusiastically in its mining activities. It has acquired three new diamond prospecting licenses close to the Orapa Province of Botswana. The diamond exploration company made the acquisition through its wholly owned subsidiary, Kukama Mining and Exploration Pty. Ltd., according to reports by AFNS. The new licenses are on top of another two, which African Diamonds received earlier this year. Initial prospecting is scheduled to begin in the next few months.

Looking at other new mining prospects, African Diamonds has plans to work on the AK6 diamond mine in Orapa Province, where it owns a 28.8 percent stake. It has recently submitted an application for a diamond mining lease at the AK6 mine. Production is scheduled to begin in late 2009, with a generation of approximately 600,000 carats a year during the initial three years, which is expected to further increase to 1 million carats per year.
