Continuing its saga of receiving recognition for innovative excellence, Surat based STPL, a global giant in the diamond industry related technologies, has now received the "FICCI Platinum Level Quality Systems Excellence Awards for Industry".
The prestigious awards, in its 6th edition, were presented to the winners at a FICCI conference on 'Sustainable Industry Growth through Quality Systems'. The awards were presented by Ms. SurinaRajan, the Director General of the Bureau OF Indian Standards (BIS).
The FICCI Quality Systems Excellence Awards were presented to 11 companies in large, medium and small categories in construction, power, mining, and manufacturing along with giving away the Certificate of Appreciation to 17 companies in the three categories. STPL stood a winner with a Platinum Level recognition in a fierce competition, in which stalwarts like Honda, HUL, L&T, and Siemens were also in the fray.
The awards recognize excellence in the field of innovation and standards in safety and performance, ingrained in the value system.
Especially mentioning the innovative excellence achieved by STPL, Ms. Rajan said, "STPL, though being a mid size company, has set an example for the entire industry to follow." In her address, she underlined the need to evolve and promote quality standards that are realistic and implementable, address technology gaps and skilling issues to make Indian products of world-class quality.
STPL has been successful in developing value based, quality processes for product development. Adhering to the international standards, the company has creatively integrated values in the processes in such a way that diamond industry is able to achieve global excellence using the products of STPL.
In a video message to the participants, Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Union Minister for Commerce & Industry and Civil Aviation, congratulated the award winners and said that quality must be the cornerstone for all output and realization of better value for products.
Mr. Ajay Shankar, Former Member-Secretary, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council (NMCC), Mr. DilipChenoy, Secretary General, FICCI and Mr. Shyam Bang, Chairman, Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) & Chairman, FICCI Taskforce on Manufacturing Excellence, were other notable dignitaries who graced the ceremony and addressed the eminent audience.
