DTC said that it anticipates to sell lesser diamonds in South African from the pervious 14 million carats a year to now 12 million carats of diamonds per year. The value decline is estimated at $700 million a year. This is the effects of the sale of four of De Beers Consolidated Mines' local operations including its Kimberley underground, Koffiefontein and Cullinan mines, and some of the diamond containing dumps around Kimberley.
Of its new sightdoler list, 75 Sights would be supplied with diamonds from South Africa and London for the three-year contracts from 2008 to 2011. The DTC established joint venture operations in Botswana and Namibia recently to sell its production, and expected to be selling about $500 million of diamonds in Botswana by 2010.
