According to reports, The Belgian Diamond Club of China (BDCC), an initiative of the Belgian consulate general in Guangzhou, China, opened for business at the Worldmart Jewelry & Gems Emporium Centre, on May 18th.

Frank Felix, Consul General of Belgium in Guangzhou, officiated at the ceremony as guest of honor along with other trade dignitaries including Mickey Weinstock of the Belgian Diamond Club of China.
The opening attracted several dozen industry representatives from across India, South Africa, Hong Kong, and Guangdong along with senior government officials of Panyu, including Luo Weifeng chief director of Panyu government and other municipal directors.

BDCC is open to all Belgian companies who wish to operate in China as well as to all Chinese firms that have commercial diamonds operations in Belgium.

BDCC will serve as a platform to facilitate the transfer of goods, know-how, technical skills and business opportunities between Belgian and Chinese companies, Worldmart said in a press release.

Some of its stated targets include: helping Belgian diamond companies to deal with China’s complex diamond structure and standardising diamond parameters currently used in China in order to fit international cutting and grading standards.

The Worldmart opening ceremonies were attended almost a hundred industry representatives from India, South Africa, Hong Kong and China.
