The United Nations Security Council unanimously extended the mandate of the UN peacekeeping mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC)until May 15, 2007.
The resolution was passed in light of violent clashes in the DRC capital Kinshasa during March between government forces and the guards of opposition leader and failed
presidential candidate Jean Pierre Bemba, which left hundreds dead.
