GIA to hold seminars at Israel Diamond Exchange on Nov 15, 16

The first is on “Identifying Diamond Treatments”, and the second on “Identifying Synthetic Diamonds”

To improve the understanding and knowledge about various aspects of Diamond trade, the Gemological Institute of America will be holding two seminars at the Israel Diamond Exchange on November 15 and 16. The speakers at both seminars are Dr. James Shigley and Brenda Harwick. 

The topic for the first seminar is “Identifying Diamond Treatments”, and it presents information on the nature and treatment of diamonds including laser drilled, fracture filled, HPHT, irradiation, and multiple treatment processes. It will be held Sunday, November 15, 2:00 to 4:00 pm and Monday, November 16, 2:00 to 4:00 pm. 

On the other hand, the second seminar will be on “Identifying Synthetic Diamonds.” It presents information on HPHT and CVD-grown synthetic diamonds and how to separate them from natural diamond. It will be held Sunday, November 15, 9:00 to 11:00 am and Monday, November 16, 9:00 to 11:00 am.
