Platinum Guild International (PGI) has responded to Anglo American's recent announcement regarding its intention to explore options for demerging from Anglo American Platinum, a principal sponsor of PGI. Despite this potential change, PGI remains steadfast in its mission to collaborate with partners to enhance the value of platinum.

Historically, PGI has been funded by South African platinum mining producers, with Anglo American Platinum being one of its key contributors. The organization anticipates that market development will continue to be a primary focus for the platinum mining industry, with jewellery playing a strategic role, as it accounts for one-third of global demand.

Tim Schlick, CEO of PGI, emphasized the organization's commitment, stating, "Our strategy is clear and simple: create ounces and value for our sponsors and partners that otherwise would not exist. This stays front and center and I believe is a highly compelling value proposition to the industry."

PGI refrains from commenting on matters specific to Anglo American or Anglo American Platinum and advises directing any inquiries related to these corporate structures to the respective organizations.
