Lucapa Diamonds Shine Bright: $10.5M Success at TAGS Tender

Three exceptional diamonds from Lucapa Diamond Company stole the spotlight at a recent tender in Angola, fetching a total of $10.5 million. Hosted by Trans Atlantic Gem Sales (TAGS) and Angola’s national diamond-trading company, Sodiam, the sale featured 20 diamonds, all of which found buyers, exceeding their reserve prices by 17%. With 38 international companies participating, the tender, held from April 11 to 19, showcased 636.2 carats of rough valued at $16.9 million.

The trio of rough diamonds, weighing 203, 116, and 42 carats respectively, were recovered from Lucapa's Lulo mine in Angola during the first quarter of the year. Lucapa’s managing director, Nick Selby, expressed satisfaction with the recognition of the diamonds' exceptional quality, noting an average price per carat of $29,000, indicating continued strength in the high-end diamond market.
