Karen Rentmeesters appointed CEO ad interim of AWDC

Effective Tuesday, April 16, Karen Rentmeesters, currently serving as the Chief Officer of PR & Industry Relations at AWDC, will assume the role of CEO ad interim. With a remarkable tenure of 15 years at AWDC, Rentmeesters brings a wealth of experience and an intimate understanding of the organization's operations. The Board of Directors has expressed confidence in her ability to lead the organization during this transitional period.

Isidor Mörsel, Chairman of AWDC's Board of Directors, emphasized the deliberate choice of Rentmeesters for her extensive experience and knowledge within the diamond industry, coupled with her robust network and expertise. Mörsel expressed optimism in Rentmeesters' capability to navigate AWDC through its ongoing initiatives until a permanent CEO is appointed.

Karen Rentmeesters, 45, holds a Master’s degree in Communication Sciences from the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL), graduating in 2002. Her professional journey began in the Belgian media industry before joining AWDC in February 2010. Throughout her tenure, Rentmeesters has demonstrated leadership in PR & Communications, fostering relationships with industry stakeholders and promoting Antwerp as a premier diamond trading hub.

As AWDC looks toward the future, Rentmeesters' appointment signifies a commitment to continuity and resilience within the organization, ensuring that the interests of Antwerp's diamond community remain at the forefront.
