De Beers Delegation Engages with GJEPC Officials in Mumbai

A high-level delegation from De Beers, led by Feriel Zerouki, Senior Vice President of Provenance, Ethics, and Industry Relations, visited the head office of the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) in Mumbai. The delegation comprised Emma Wade Smith, Global Head of Public Policy and Public Affairs, and Amit Pratihari, Managing Director of De Beers Forevermark.

The visit was marked by a warm reception from key officials of GJEPC, including Vipul Shah, Chairman; Ajesh Mehta, Convener of the Diamond Panel; Saunak Parikh, Co-Convener of the Diamond Panel; Anil Virani, Member of the Diamond Panel; and Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director.

Discussions during the meeting encompassed a range of pertinent industry topics such as compliances, movement of rough diamonds, the prevailing geopolitical landscape, regulatory challenges, and potential areas for collaborative efforts between De Beers and GJEPC.

Zerouki and her team expressed their commitment to fostering ethical practices and strengthening industry relations, underscoring De Beers' enduring partnership with the Indian diamond sector. The meeting concluded with both parties affirming their dedication to navigating current challenges and exploring opportunities for mutual growth in the global diamond industry.
