Israeli diamond companies are preparing a strong participation at the forthcoming September Hong Kong Jewellery and Gem Fair. The Israel diamond industry sees the Asian markets led by Hong Kong as important for its long term growth. Hong Kong represents around 30 percent of Israel's polished diamonexports, the second largest after US.

At the fair this year, 90 Israeli diamond companies will feature at the Israel Diamond Pavilion and 30 more across different locations at the show. This is expected to be one of the largest contingents at the show.

IDI is introducing a computerised data base of all Israeli goods in the pavilion by exhibitor. The satabase will be available at IDI image booth in the pavilion featuring at the Asia World Expo. With the database tuyers will be able to ascertain their choice of goods and be directed to the particular exhibitor. The image booth will also enable buyers to register for IDI portal site. The schedule of the Fair falls as a prelude to the festive season.

IDI Chairman Moti Ganz said, "Although there is currently a certain slowdown in Asian markets, we are convinced they will bounce back and continue to expand. We have only begun to scratch the surface."

In addition to a strong participation IDI is also sponsoring the opening reception at the show. It is also one of the founding Honoured Partners of the JNA awards. The awards have an Asian focus and will be distributed at a ceremony and gala dinner at the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong on September 12.
