Amongst the 400 lots of jewels being offered by Sotheby’s New York at its Magnificent Jewels auction on April 17 will include a 74.79-carat, D, VVS1, potentially flawless, type IIa,pear-shaped diamond (presale estimate of $9 million to $12 million) stands out as the star of the lots. The entire auction carries a presale estimate of over $35 million.
The auction house noted that the pear-shaped diamond tells of white diamonds being in demand, which has been so since the past decade, as such the stone is expected to draw much attention.
The lots also feature some new pieces in the market including rare colored stones from the Gould family, some iconic styles including Cartier’s Tutti Frutti bracelet and panther brooch, reports say. The highlights of the auction which include rare diamonds and jewellery pieces can be viewed at the Hong Kong Convention & Exhibition Center from April 3 to 7, repost add.
