With a business-friendly environment, better security and larger space, BDB has been gaining a strong grip over the diamond market since its inception. Right now over 150 offices are fully functional at BDB where as there are 7000 plus small and large diamond offices in Opera house. But, out of the 500 market leaders of these 7000, few of them are shifting to BDB tomorrow. The 500 trailblazers are said to control over 70 per cent of market share. “Some exporters are shifting in BDB tomorrow where as more number of exporters are planning to shift in BDB by Labh Pacham, after Diwali,” shared Arun Shah, Hon. Jt. Secretary, Bharat Diamond Bourse.
“It has been noted that many consumers have stopped travelling to Opera House for business and are more confortable to come to BDB owing to its central location and proximity to the airport. This has made the other exporters from Opera House to shift to BDB. The public transport is also easily available for the office workers,” added Shah.
The BDB is also gearing up to welcome its associates. The diamond Merchants Association Hall is under work and is estimated to be completed in next three months. Shah also opined that the business centre cabins would be completely occupied very soon.
With the business laying its foundation stone in Zaveri Bazaar over 50 years ago and moving to Panchratna almost 25 years back, this shift of business to BDB in BKC is a point that depicts a contemporary, professional and an organized change in the tradition-bound industry of diamonds.
