The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council of India (GJEPC), the apex body for India’s gem and jewellery industry, is hosting the 3rd edition of its Indo-Euro Jewellery summit from 15th- 20th November, 2011 in Mumbai. The initiative began two years ago, as a pathway and platform to build stronger ties between the India and the European nations.

“The Indo Euro Jewellery Summit aims at strengthening India ties with European nations. The summit since 2009 has played a vital role in penetrating in the region and connecting with major players on one on one basis." says Rajiv Jain, Chairman, GJEPC. The summits organised in the past given the Indian counterparts a positive feedback and likewise for the European couterparts. Over the years, almost 30 major European retailers having presence across entire Europe joined the Summit to learn and experience more about the Indian jewellery manufacturing sector.

“Our research has shown that the TOP 100 jewellery retailers from Europe represent some 7.000 points of sale. This means that we have attracted more than 60 percent of the European TOP 100 potential to India with this unique tool. While there is still a sizable potential left, I believe we have created a major gate to India for other retailers to follow in the steps of their colleagues.” says Filip Van Laere, CEO of Diamond Dreams@Work, the consultants who helped shape and implement the different Summits.

This year, the Indo-Euro summit will host a series of high level meetings between Top 20 European Retailers and leading Indian jewellery manufacturers. It is expected to invite participants from France, Germany, Poland and Eastern Europe, as well as the major jewellery retail chain from South Africa. For the first time, the participants will also include Wholesalers, TV jewellery channels and one of the leading French luxury retailers. Participating Indian counterparts will include 15 major manufacturing houses - Asian Star, Core Jewellery, Fine jewellery, Goldiam International, Indigo Jewellery, Inter Carat Jewelry, Inter Gold, KBS Designs, Kiran Jewels, Patdiam Jewellery, Priority Jewels, SNC Jewels, Stellar Jewellery, Sunjewels International and Uni-Design Jewellery.
