Sotheby’s Australia decides on second auction in Sydney this month

Sotheby’s Australia has announced slating its second Sydney stand alone jewellery sale this year on 28 June, with over 240 lots of antique and contemporary jewellery, carrying a total estimate of $2,212,500-2,870,500. The lots will include creations by distinguished houses of Cartier, Bulgari, Tiffany & Co, Kalis, Autore and Paspaley, along with GIA certified white, yellow and pink solitaire diamonds and prestigious watches by Rolex and Cartier.

The lots on sale will include:

A pair of diamond earrings (est. $150,000-180,000), as the cover lot, with each piece centering a claw set oval diamond bordered by round brilliant cut diamonds and surrounded by a cluster of similarly set marquise and pear shaped diamonds, the sixteen diamonds together weigh 16.27 carats. The supporting diamonds weighing approximately 3.50 carats, mounted in platinum and 18ct white gold.

Coloured stones, such as a Tanzanite and Diamond Ring (est. $7,000-10,000), a Cerrone emerald ring (est. $5,000-7,000), a pair of fancy yellow diamond earrings (est. $60,000-80,000), and a fancy coloured diamond graduated necklace with sash motif and pendant drop, weighing approximately 46 carats (est. $50,000-60,000).

Art Deco period pieces such as a 1930s diamond brooch (est. $5,000-7,000), a rare and fine natural pearl Jabot pin reminiscent of classic French jewellery (est. $2,000-3,000); a diamond bracelet, circa 1930 (est. $6,000-9,000), diamond bracelet circa 1920 (est. $1,500-2,000) and a 1930s diamond brooch (lot 50, est. $5,000-7,000).

A wide array of watches including a Patek Philippe ‘Ref 2526’ automatic wristwatch, circa 1956 ($20,000-30,000), and a Cartier back-wind ‘baguette’ wristwatch, circa 1930 (est. $8,000-12,000).

Over half a dozen beautiful pearl necklaces including a South Sea pearl necklace of twenty nine graduated pearls measuring 15-17.7mm (est. $13,500-15,500). Australia is a pre-eminent producer of South Sea pearls and there are examples by both Paspaley and Kalis for offer.
