Prasad Kapre and Mehul Choksi lead FICCI Gems and Jewellery Committee

The Committee outlines its support towards the gem and jewellery industry

Two leading personalities of the diamond and jewellery industry have taken lead roles in the FICCI Gems and Jewellery Committee for the current year. Mr. Mehul Choksi, Chairman and Managing Director, Gitanjali Group has been appointed for the second time as Chairman of the Committee and Mr. Prasad Kapre, Managing Director, Blue Skies Business Management Group as the Committee’s Co- chairman.

During the first meeting of the Committee recently held in Mumbai, it was elaborated that FICCI with its knowledge driven approach will be an active interface between the Government and the industry. It would set up periodic meetings to push for policy change at the highest level and play a catalytic role in taking the Indian industry to the next level. The FICCI Gems and Jewellery Committee will be a platform for the industry to voice their concerns and will also support industry activities for its overall development. Also, an international conference is being planned to be held in December 2009 in Mumbai, the diamond and jewellery hub of India. The conference would focus on Transformation of the Gems and Jewellery industry in India.
