Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair (HJF), a B2B platform, which is dedicated to promoting the Indian jewellery industry and more specifically the south Indian jewellerry industry, is expected to host over 160 local and international exhibitors during its forthcoming edition in July 2009. This would be the second edition of the show and will take place from 9-12 July 2009 at the HITEX Exhibition Centre in Hyderabad. The event organisers, UBM India had launched this platform in 2008 with the intent to promote the South Indian jewellery industry.

South India has been known as a major consumer and key manufacturer of jewellery, and is also a popular pearl and gem processing centre. “Despite the volatile gold prices the states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka have shown a continuous growth year on year in jewellery consumption. Being major consumers of jewellery in India, the southern states form the heart of the country’s jewellery trade. This makes South India a lucrative potential for new business opportunities not only for suppliers in India but also from across the world.” – Mr. M. Gandhi, Managing Director, UBM India.

The HJF provides a much needed market place where the local suppliers can showcase their variety of products to national and international buyers. “HJF provides an opportunity for the jewellery trade in order to maximise business opportunities, HJF’09 will have international participants from all over the country, such type of well organised exhibition will give exposure and opportunity to exhibitors, buyers and consumers from the major cities and districts” Mr. M.L. Gupta, Vice – President, Twin Cities Jewellers Association, Hyderabad.
