Leading diamond and gemstone security specialist, Opsydia, has announced the appointment of Jimmy Gove to the position of Sales and Marketing Director, effective immediately.

Gove brings to Opsydia more than a decade of experience and knowledge in the diamond, gemstone and jewellery industries. He most recently served as Digital Projects Manager at Bonas Group in London, the world’s largest independent diamond and gemstone tender/auction house.

Before this he spent almost eight years in Antwerp where he developed and managed the Group’s digital transformation strategy, as well as its tender/auction sales and analytics platform used by international mining companies and private sellers.

At Bonas he also worked closely with large diamond and jewellery companies throughout the value chain in Europe, USA, UAE and India as a Senior Consultant and De Beers Broker. He holds a master’s degree in Architecture from Emmanuel College, University of Cambridge.

For Opsydia, Gove’s arrival signals a new phase in the company’s growth, allowing the business to continue its international expansion in both the diamond and coloured gemstone sectors. He will work with Opsydia’s existing and prospective clients to provide practical and technological solutions to enhance supply chain transparency and support traceability initiatives.

Opsydia CEO, Andrew Rimmer, says: “Jimmy is an important addition to the Opsydia team. His professional experience in the diamond and coloured gemstone industries, coupled with his understanding and links to the corporate jewellery businesses, is going to be invaluable as we move into this next phase of our growth and development. A surge in new client acquisitions in 2022 highlighted the need for a Sales & Marketing Director who can drive this commercial side of the business forward.”

Opsydia is recognised internationally for its leading technology that places unique identifiers on and beneath the surface of gemstones to secure their identity. Its three Systems – the D4000, D5000 and D6000 – are capable of processing 50,000 to 100,000 stones per year in an industrial environment and can therefore provide a practical solution to diamond identification concerns.

In September 2022, the business secured significant funding to empower the wider roll-out of its secure laser inscription technology, make strategic hires, and invest further in its Oxford-based production facilities. The injection of funds is also aiding in the expansion of Opsydia’s research and development arm, which focuses on the emerging fields of diamond-based electronics and diamond-based quantum solutions.

Opsydia will exhibit at JCK Las Vegas in June 2023, where visitors will have the chance to meet Andrew Rimmer, Jimmy Gove and Opsydia’s Head of Product, Lewis Fish.
