Christie’s Jewels Online & Colorful Whimsy: Jewels by Michele della Valle (23 November – 9 December) sale achieved a total of $6,853,250 with 130% hammer above low estimate and 96% sold by lot. The sale saw global participation with registered bidders from 36 countries and attracted 15% first-time registrants.

Leading the sale was a diamond ring of 10.01 carats, which was offered at no reserve and achieved $625,000. Other notable results from the sale include: a diamond ring of 7.22 carats that sold for $137,500; an Alexandre Reza cultured pearl and diamond necklace which realized $112,500; and an emerald and diamond ring mounted by Van Cleef & Arpels, which achieved $112,500.

Another highlight of the sale were 64 works by Michele della Valle, who is well known for his designs of fine jewels with colorful whimsy, all offered without reserve. The top lot of the group was a blue topaz and diamond star earrings, which achieved over three times its high estimate and sold for $30,000.
