Rs 3.5 crore diamond robbery case cracked

Theft took place at jeweller Tribhuvandas Bhimji Zaveri’s residence

MUMBAI crime branch cracked a case of theft involving diamonds worth Rs 3.5 crore from jeweller Tribhuvandas Bhimji Zaveri’s residence on Thursday.

Two persons including a carpenter were arrested. Zaver’s learnt about the theft only a week after the two were arrested. Police visited the Zaveri residence at warden road and informed the family that they had recovered gems and cash from two men, including an acquaintance of the family who had confessed to stealing he diamonds from Zaveri residence.

The police are now likely to arrest two diamond traders who had purchased diamonds worth Rs 4 lakh from the accused. They had paid Rs 2 lakh to the two men, while the remaining payments were still to be made.
