Gaetano Cavali awarded Jewellery Forum Prize

Honoured for promoting a sustainable environ in the jewellery sector

CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri has become the first to receive the Jewellery Forum Prize at the recently held 5th Jewellery Forum. Cavalieri was honoured by organisers Club degli Orafi Italia for his commitment to promote sustainable development in the Jewellery sector.

Cavalieri has been noted to favour a respectful development of the economical, social and ecological principles. He has been actively proclaiming the consciousness of ethical jewellery and stones, amongst the international community and consumers. He said that, “When consumers purchase a jewel they should know that they buy not only an object as an expression of value and emotions, but they also contribute to improve the lives of persons in economical need”. He stated that the consumer should be aware that the products abide by a strict control of the production chain procedures, and exclude banned or unethical items.

CIBJO as an organisation, has earned the recognition with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations in 2006, as a non-governmental organisation promoting human rights and economical development within the diamond trade. The 5th Jewellery Forum is held once in two years and is organized by the Club degli Orafi and the Bocconi University, along with the ICE, Italian Institute for Foreign Trade, Vicenza Trade Fair, ‘A Diamond is Forever'and Securpol
