SARIN Technologies, held a series of seminars to introduce GIA Facetware - software that incorporates the Gemological Institute of Americas (GIA) new Cut Grading System into existing Sarin products. The latest Seminars were held at Indias diamond centers, Surat and Mumbai. They were held at Holiday Inn Hotel, Surat on December 12, and at the Taj Mahal Hotel in Mumbai on December 16. The seminars were attended by executives from Indias major diamond manufacturers, including DTC sightholders Venus Jewels, J.B Brothers, Karp, and many leading firms.
Sarins has incorporated an exclusive Safety Distance feature, which allows diamond cutters to plan and cut stones a safe distance away from the cut grade borders, which is an important product feature because it offers protection against potential cutting mistakes. Key issues were raised by the attending diamantaires like- why the GIA grading system does not consider the diameter of the stone when grading its cut, unlike the new AGS cut grading system. Concerns about GIA not investing in consumer and retailer education on the new Cut Grading System were talked about.
We are excited about strengthening our cooperation with Sarin Technologies, said Howard Pomerantz, Executive Director of GIA Instruments, who was present at the Sarin seminars. We are confident that Sarins widespread reach into the heart of the worldwide diamond industry will help spread the news and benefits of GIA Facetware in a way that will benefit diamond manufacturing, he added.
