India Rough Gemstone Show opens doors to visitors

First day of the inaugural edition attracted a lot of local gemstone manufacturers and traders.

There could not have been more apt venue for the India Rough Gemstone Show (IRGS) which commenced in Jaipur today. The Pink city being the hub of colour gemstone business, the inaugural edition of IRGS is being organized by the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council, from 8th to 10 January 2018, at Hotel Jaipur Mariott. The show was inaugurated by Commissioner of Customs (Prev.) Jodhpur, Subhash Chandra Agarwal.

The IRGS is aimed at creating a trading platform for increasing communication between Mine owners of Coloured Gemstones and Rough Gemstones suppliers with the exporters of Coloured Gemstones and promoting Rough Gemstones business globally.  Jaipur city is well known centre for manufacturing of Coloured Gemstones and its jewellery, famous world over.  The cutting and polishing of Coloured Gemstones has been its main activity since the establishment in the year 1727 AD.   Today all varieties of Coloured Gemstones are manufactured in Jaipur and the city also has manufacturing zones for Coloured Gemstones studded Jewellery, using state of art technology.



Miners and traders in rough gemstones from Afghanistan, Canada, Ethiopia, Hong Kong, Madagascar, Tanzania, Thailand and Zambia are among the 25 international companies taking part in this first ever B2B trade show exclusively meant for rough gemstones. With a number of suppliers from different parts of the world attending the show, one can expect a wide variety of rough gemstones on display. One of the highlights of the show is the Madagascar pavilion, which houses 15 suppliers from the country.
