At the age of 17, he left his country, Austria, to work in a Colombian emerald mine, where his career started taking shape, “After working some years in Colombia, I decided to leave the country and produce a limited collection of diamond rings. The first client that saw the pieces wanted to buy them. He asked me to create more designs that would match the rings. Inspired and full of passion, the collection quickly grew and grew. It was the beginning of what today become a brand that is revered throughout the world for not only its breathtaking selection of handmade fine jewellery, but a dedication to excellence, unsurpassed quality and value. Now we are well known for our high-end pieces and also known for the fact that we use the finest cut in the world. We never use a second choice of diamond quality and we use only Russian cut diamonds. This is how we honor our clients; we never would think of presenting anything that was not the absolute best in quality.“ His fascination with precious stones moved Gerhard Schreiner to immerse himself in the world of jewels. His endeavours led him to Colombia in 1988, the land of emeralds, where the extraordinary success-story of Gerhard Schreiner began. Today there are 300 employees working in Schreiner's enterprise, which has its headquarters in Germany. Designers in Italy as well as Spain are producing Schreiners "neo haute joaillerie". His name represents, throughout the world, the highest luxury imaginable, the absolutely highest standards of quality and the highest demands. And today one can find jewellery from the Schreiner Collection in the treasure chests of numerous noble residences throughout the world.
The magnificent "neo haute joaillerie" reminds one of those ornamental creations of old- steeped in legends from ancient times gone by: each stone a secret, each pearl a fairy teardrop. Fairy tales, woven around noble jewels, enchanted us with images of magical workshops in subterranean realms. In the world of human fantasy, dwarves crafted the most exquisitely precise creations for the King of the Mountain. But due to the ineffable fact that genuine jewellery consists of so much more than just gold and diamonds, they added something immeasurable to its preciousness, something from the transcendent world of human desires and ruminations. Into their creations they infuse these transient incarnations just as skillfully as their emeralds and rubies, thereby bestowing upon each one a unique form, weight and immortality. In the "neo haute joaillerie", the most exquisite gems and pearls that are to be found on the planet are utilised. This illustrated volume presents with a selection of Gerhard Schreiner's best - his ode to immortality. Sharing details on his recent collection he informs, “On the international watch and jewellery fair Baselworld we presented a world premiere: Diamonds in the shape of a Buddha. The unique Buddha diamond cut was developed by Schreiner Fine Jewellery and protected worldwide. The Buddha diamonds stand for purity, perfection and eternity. They are the stars of our new Buddha collection, necklaces, pendants, bracelets and earrings includes, all inspired by the symbol and the power of the Buddha. Buddha is a symbol of joy and positive energy. You smile - and the world is changing. It´s an ancient Buddhist wisdom.” Explaining more in detail, he adds, “For a long time, the Buddha has a great significance for me. On my travels, I met many people from different backgrounds and divergent cultural backgrounds. But again and again I met fascinating people who have inspired me through their inner peace and incredible creativity. In connection with these people and cultures always appeared the figure of Buddha.” Wrapping the conversation and going in-depth, straight from his heart he speaks, “Buddha is a symbol of health, happiness and perfect wisdom. Buddha is also available for unlimited development of all existing potentials. Buddha attaches great importance to personal experience, because one's own heart knows the truth. Buddha does not know either - or. The Buddhist approach is not exclusive. Buddha lived tolerance, peace and happiness. And happy people make a happy world. That´s the message of Buddha.
