The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT says that The International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2020, which was held on 18-22 December 2020 was deemed to be successful as a result of cooperation with Chanthaburi province, Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Traders Association, Chanthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau. The event was organized to promote the Thai gems and jewelry industry and to help stimulate commercial activities at the end of the year. It also reinforces the image of Chanthaburi as world's gems and jewelry manufacturing and trading hub.

Sumed Prasongpongchai, Deputy Director of GIT said that the five-day event was successful with more than 6,000 people attending to purchase gems and jewelry. In addition, GIT organized a Business Matching event with VIP exporters and officials from online shopping and e-commers platforms to join business negotiations with jewelry entrepreneurs who are members of the “Buy With Confidence" scheme or BWC to boost confidence in Thai jewelry products and were able to generate a total of 191 matches for business operators in central region. He said this will be anopportunity to find new distribution channels and they were also invited to visitjewelry factories and gem mines to see the process and get to know more about the Thai gems and jewelry industry.

There were several other activities at the event, including workshops to educate and develop the potential of entrepreneurs and people who were interested, as well as jewelry exhibitions and presentations of research from universities such as Burapha University Chanthaburi Campus,  RambhaiBarni Rajabhat University and Kasetsart University. GIT also exhibited 3 sets of jewelry, namely health jewelry from Beyond Jewelry project, Esan Dern jewelry set, and the winner's work from GIT's 14th World Jewelry Design Awards 2020. To reinforce consumers' confidence purchasing, GIT also offered gems identification services at a special price, which gained attention from both buyers and sellers, and generated sales together with orders during the entire event.
